I have always loved to create. I can very easily attribute that to my mom. She is a gentle soul with a love for the earth, nature, and creating. Growing up she was constantly painting, doodling, sewing, or taking care of animals. She passed down her maker's mentality to my sisters and I. I sewed my first item, a blanket for my baby doll, when I was barely even old enough to read!

Since then I have grown up, gotten married, and now I have my own daughter to teach those things to. I met my husband in 2009, fell madly in love, got married during college in 2011, and there began my Handmade Whimsies journey!

As poor college students ourselves, planning a big, extravagant wedding was out of the question! But I was crafty and a go-getter, so I decided to make EVERYTHING myself. Invitations, wedding favors, table decor, hair accessories, corsages & boutonierres, and my famous wedding bouquet (along with my 5 bridesmaids bouquets also!). I know...I know...I was crazy. I did all of that in 9 months while going to school full time, and working.

At my wedding, I got so much amazing feedback from friends and family on my bouquets! They were such a hit! People asked where I got them, and when they heard I made them, I started getting special requests. First I just made a few hair pieces here and there for friends and family for fund raisers, raising money for missions and nonprofit organizations.

Then in August 2016, my husband and I sold our house and moved states with our 6 month old daughter, Selah Joy. Again, I know, we are crazy to move with a newborn! And then we moved in with my parents (yay for being a typical Millennial moving in with Mom & Dad!). My husband got a job offer that we couldn't refuse, so until our house sold, we couldn't buy another one.

After we moved, I found myself looking for jobs. What did I want to do with my life!?! I loved being a mom. I've always loved to create. Every time I thought I would apply for a job, something held me back. I thought, "Okay, if I am EVER going to pursue my handmade business, now is the time, while living with family who could help with the baby and having minimal expenses." So I did it. I started making. And things started selling! I had such great support and feedback from my friends and family that OTHERS were even posting about what I do!

I just felt like doors kept opening, allowing me to keep moving forward. After 3 years of living my dream, I had my third baby, I had to slow down on the creating and worked with a friend to design the Sticky Note Bible Verses!

My creative journey isn’t over and I hope to have more products as I become able to juggle more with my three little ones!
